A leading Building Services Consultancy are looking to recruit a Sustainability Engineer to join their Edinburgh based team on an initial 3 month basis As the Sustainability Engineer you will be responsible for providing support in the implementation and development of sustainable engineering solutions within the design of Mechanical amp; Electrical Building Services.Responsibilities will include: Working directly with clients and design teams, advising them on the best strategy for implementing sustainability and develop detailed briefs of their mechanical and electrical building services. Producing outline design, scheme design and detailed design reports including drawings and specifications. Managing the tender process to ensure the most appropriate contractors are selected to deliver the project on behalf of the client. Developing effective working relationships with the wider design team Quantity Surveyor, Architects, Structural and Civil Engineers) to ensure successful delivery of construction projects. Working with design teams in the successful delivery of BREEAM for sustainable homes assessments on time and on budget. Assisting in preparing tenders, liaising with Marketing departments or others as appropriate.Providing expert advice to clients and colleagues staff on sustainability. Conducting an Options Appraisal and produce a report for the Senior Engineer and Client justifying the suitable recommendations. Assisting in managing the commercial aspects of the project to ensure effective cost controls are in place and provide advice on project finances to other team members to ensure delivery within budget or any potential overspend is highlighted and agreed with the client. Advising on the operating and maintenance manuals produced by contractors to support the services installed and ensure effective handovers on construction completion.To be considered for this role it is essential you are able to demonstrate experience in the preparation of BREEAM amp; CfSH assessments relating to renewable energy technologies and low carbon design within the Construction Industry and be educated to degree level within Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering for Building Services.
