This highly respected and well established consultancy is seeking a Principal Civil/ Structural Engineer with rail experience to join their dynamic and engaging team, based in SE1 and located near to underground and overground rail connections. The practice work alongside developers, D&B contractors and large institutional organisations. They are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual capable of running projects and managing teams.

The role will give you the opportunity to lead senior and less experience engineers as well as manage internal resources for project delivery as well as engage with clients in order to nurture and expand upon client relationships.

The firm are specifically seeking a Civil/Structural design engineer with extensive rail project experience.

To be considered for the role you will be expected to:

  • Be Chartered (ICE or IStructE)
  • Demonstrate success in the execution of design calculations
  • Show an understanding of geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics
  • Provide proven experience for some of the following:
    • Structures and buildings (ideally rail)
    • Retaining structures
    • Foundations
    • Culverts and crossings
    • Earth Structures
    • Over, Under and footbridges
  • Have the ability to lead projects, manage work loads and lead teams
  • Be comfortable liaising with clients directly and attending design progress meetings

Key Skills:

-Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
-Demonstrable success in the execution of Rail related projects
-Strong knowledge of CDM regulations
-Familiarity with Quality Management and Quality Management Systems
-The ability to identify, develop and present civil engineering solutions
-A good understanding of geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics
-Desire to drive projects forward and take the initiative where necessary
-Ability to lead projects, manage workloads and lead teams
-Ability to produce fee proposals, monitor project progress and spend
-Ability to liaise with clients directly and attend design progress meetings
-Ability to work independently and see tasks through to completion with minimal input
-Ability to function well within a team environment
