Lancashire County Council has an exciting and challenging building programme, which includes complete new schools through to extensions, as well as maintenance or renewal of existing properties. We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled individuals to join our team of Structural Engineers, delivering a wide variety of schemes, working closely with our in house multi-disciplinary teams of Architects, Surveyors and M&E Engineers.
The post is a permanent full time role based at County Hall within the Design and Construction Service.
The post holder will carry out a senior role in the design and management of a range of new buildings, refurbishments and maintenance projects. You will have a record of delivering technical projects from inception to completion on site, within programme and budget.
The post holder will also be trained to undertake a sports ground safety role, which is also carried out by the team.
The post holder will require excellent communications skills and a customer focused approach to service delivery.
The post holder will need a thorough knowledge of current standards relating to building structures and construction including a thorough understanding of health and safety requirements. The post holder will be expected to provide a technical lead for a small team of staff engaged on common projects.
Most design is undertaken using computer packages for structural analysis and drafting and the post holder will be expected to have familiarity with these systems. As this team is part of a wider structures design service there may be the opportunity to gain experience of highway structures.
This is an essential car user post. However, in certain circumstances consideration may be given to applicants who as a consequence of disability are unable to drive. Other benefits include a local government pension scheme, a generous holiday entitlement and flexible working hours.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Team managers Neale Goddard on 01772 533152 or Stephen Williams on 01772 533289.
