c.pound;28,000 pa plus company car or car allowance The Canal amp; River Trust is the new charity which has just taken over responsibility for 2000 miles of canals and rivers in England amp; Wales. We are now looking for an engineer to join the team working along the Kennet amp; Avon Waterway, based at Devizes. The purpose of the role is to effectively and efficiently utilise available resources to maintain the integrity and safety of the waterway through the application of rigorous asset management procedures and risk evaluation. Key duties of the role will include: Maintaining Canal amp; River Trustrsquo;s mandatory procedures for the inspection and monitoring of the canal infrastructure. Maintaining SAP asset data and ensuring compliance with KPI targets. Preparing works information packages for repair and maintenance work. Undertaking structural calculations / assessments for minor works. Ensuring third parties undertaking engineering/construction works on or adjacent to Canal amp; River Trustrsquo;s estate with potential to affect Canal amp; River Trustrsquo;s interests are planned and undertaken safely and comply with statutory requirements and internal Codes of Practice. You will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline and be a member of a relevant professional body at an appropriate level, e.g. MICE, or be working towards this. You should be able to demonstrate on going CPD to include proven experience of applying engineering concepts. You should have experience of risk and asset management with some awareness of heritage and environmental issues. You will also be able to demonstrate a good standard of written and verbal communication, and be confident in negotiating with third parties. Experience of working in a customer service environment and a working knowledge of SAP would be advantageous. An in depth knowledge of Health and Safety, including CDM regulations is essential, as is a valid UK driving licence. You will be required to participate on the Kennet amp; Avon call out rota as a duty supervisor after an initial period of three months.
